Ron Hawkins and The Rusty Nails

Ron Hawkins and the Rusty Nails were a Canadian indie rock band in the late 1990s.

The band was formed by musician Ron Hawkins out of the sessions for his 1996 solo album The Secret of My Excess, following the breakup of The Lowest of the Low. With Hawkins on lead vocals and guitar, other band members included bassist Blitz (Michael Kaler), drummer Mark Hansen, harmonica and melodica player Lawrence Nichols, and saxophonists Chris Plock and Jason Walters. Their music blended rock, folk, jazz and punk influences.

The band released two albums before Hawkins reunited with The Lowest of the Low. The EP Airports of the World, containing four new songs and five live and demo versions, was released in 2001.

Famous quotes containing the words rusty and/or nails:

    Perseverance, dear my lord,
Keeps honor bright; to have done is to hang
Quite out of fashion, like a rusty mail,
    In monumental mockery.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

Time has an undertaking establishment on every block and drives his coffin nails faster than the steam riveters rivet or the stenographers type or the tickers tick out fours and eights and dollar signs and ciphers.
    John Dos Passos (1896–1970)
