Drum Set
He built his own plexiglas acrylic drum set and it is thought to be the first one built using plexiglas acrylic. It has a number of butterfly picture cut-outs taped to it. The bass drum is twice the depth of a normal bass drum, so it pushes a longer column of air. The air column was so strong that when miking the bass drum, small sandbag weights were used to keep the air column from pushing over the microphone.

Famous quotes containing the words drum and/or set:
“It has been an unchallengeable American doctrine that cranberry sauce, a pink goo with overtones of sugared tomatoes, is a delectable necessity of the Thanksgiving board and that turkey is uneatable without it.... There are some things in every country that you must be born to endure; and another hundred years of general satisfaction with Americans and America could not reconcile this expatriate to cranberry sauce, peanut butter, and drum majorettes.”
—Alistair Cooke (b. 1908)
“Unfortunately, many things have been omitted which should have been recorded in our journal; for though we made it a rule to set down all our experiences therein, yet such a resolution is very hard to keep, for the important experience rarely allows us to remember such obligations, and so indifferent things get recorded, while that is frequently neglected. It is not easy to write in a journal what interests us at any time, because to write it is not what interests us.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
