Indian Heritage

Research, including genetically-based research from 2012, has established that the ancestors of Romani people lived in the northwestern part of India and were forced to leave the area as a group following an unidentifiable incident that is possibly related to Islamic invasions during the same period of time or a natural disaster.

The traditional occupations that the Roma people were most well known for were music, craftsmanship, military and fortune-telling.
