Roger Johnson (TV Presenter) - Life and Career

Life and Career

Johnson was previously a sports presenter on BBC South's news programme South Today. He left BBC South in September 2011 after 11 years to replace Gordon Burns as the main anchor on North West Tonight, alongside Ranvir Singh. Since May 2012 he has been a regular presenter of BBC Breakfast on Sundays and has also presented the Saturday edition of the programme.

Since mid-2009, Johnson was an occasional relief presenter on the BBC News Channel, presenting a variety of shifts during the week and at weekends. He has also been a regular reporter on the BBC's Match of the Day and Final Score programmes.

Johnson is a patron of Southampton charity The Rose Road Association's 'Change My Life' appeal. He holds the distinction of scoring the very last goal at The Dell, Southampton FC's former ground, during a half-time penalty game, to entertain the crowd. The match being the very last one played, between professional teams in front of a paying crowd. Southampton played Brighton & Hove Albion and won 1-0. The goal was scored in the first half, leaving the last ever goal to Johnson.

Famous quotes containing the words life and/or career:

The touchstone for family life is still the legendary “and so they were married and lived happily ever after.” It is no wonder that any family falls short of this ideal.
    Salvador Minuchin (20th century)

Work-family conflicts—the trade-offs of your money or your life, your job or your child—would not be forced upon women with such sanguine disregard if men experienced the same career stalls caused by the-buck-stops-here responsibility for children.
    Letty Cottin Pogrebin (20th century)
