National Team
Marsh made his England debut against Switzerland in 1971 and won a total of nine caps, scoring one goal, which came in a 3-0 victory over Wales. In his stage show with George Best Marsh later joked that the England manager Alf Ramsey told him ‘I'll be watching you for the first 45 minutes and if you don't work harder I'll pull you off at half time," to which Marsh said that he replied: “Crikey, Alf, at Manchester City all we get is an orange and a cup of tea.”. This story has become accepted as fact among football fans, but the conversation never took place. He lost his place in Ramsey's squad because of a loss of form with Manchester City where his ball-holding style interrupted the flowing City style of football and was claimed to have cost City the championship.

“Childrens lives are not shaped solely by their families or immediate surroundings at large. That is why we must avoid the false dichotomy that says only government or only family is responsible. . . . Personal values and national policies must both play a role.”
—Hillary Rodham Clinton (20th century)
“Is my team ploughing,
That I was used to drive
And hear the harness jingle
When I was man alive?”
—A.E. (Alfred Edward)
