Also known for her civil service, Getsic served as a community leader since age thirteen.

In 1992, she attended Presidential Classroom, where she met President George H. W. Bush and his cabinet members, including Dick Cheney. For several years following that meeting, she "dropped out", and focused on her travels and music.

From 1999 to 2001, Rodleen worked with Jubilee world relief efforts, serving as the Lead Coordinator for Perry Farrell's Jubilee Freedom Foundation with organization president Aaron Cohen.

Rodleen has worked with Aileen Getty, daughter of Sir John Paul Getty, for non-profit causes, including Gettlove, feeding homeless people in Hollywood.

Rodleen served as the Spokesperson and Public Relations Chair for the Community of La Conchita, California (2005–2006), following the deadly mudslide (January 10, 2005) that took the lives of 3% of the small beach community. She personally knew all of the victims, especially guitar player Charly Womack, who had on occasion been her partner in music. In March 2006, in response to the publicity driven by Rodleen, the La Conchita Study committee was formed, commissioned by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

In April 2006, Rodleen traveled to the Gulf Coast of the United States and then to New Orleans, Louisiana to aid in the ongoing relief efforts of Hurricane Rita and Hurricane Katrina. There she attended events and meetings, communicating on disaster response and preparedness with local and State officials, architects and community builders such as Kirsha Kaechele, other community members, and politically active musicians such as Ben Jaffe of the Preservation Hall and Wynton Marsalis. She also performed live while in New Orleans, including appearances at the Windsor Hotel.

Famous quotes containing the word politics:

Beware the politically obsessed. They are often bright and interesting, but they have something missing in their natures; there is a hole, an empty place, and they use politics to fill it up. It leaves them somehow misshapen.
    Peggy Noonan (b. 1950)

Politics is war without bloodshed while war is politics with bloodshed.
    Mao Zedong (1893–1976)

Social history might be defined negatively as the history of a people with the politics left out.
    —G.M. (George Macaulay)
