Rock Hard Ten - Four Year-old Season

Four Year-old Season

At age four Rock Hard Ten developed physically into one of the largest colts to hit the track in history standing 17.3 hands. In that season he won the grade two Charles H. Strub Stakes, then one of the biggest prizes for an older horse in the grade one Santa Anita Handicap and then the grade two Goodwood Breeders' Cup Handicap in succession. Rock Hard Ten finished his career with an in-the-money percentage of 82%. Out of eleven career starts, the grandson of Epsom Derby winner Roberto won seven, placed once, and came in third once.

Famous quotes containing the word season:

The theater is a baffling business, and a shockingly wasteful one when you consider that people who have proven their worth, who have appeared in or been responsible for successful plays, who have given outstanding performances, can still, in the full tide of their energy, be forced, through lack of opportunity, to sit idle season after season, their enthusiasm, their morale, their very talent dwindling to slow gray death. Of finances we will not even speak; it is too sad a tale.
    Ilka Chase (1905–1978)
