Rochdale A.F.C.

Rochdale Association Football Club is an English professional football club based in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. They play their home matches at Spotland Stadium. Formed in 1907 and nicknamed the Dale, they were accepted into the Football League in 1921. Since that time, they have generally played in the fourth tier of the Football League, though they did win promotion in 1969, before suffering relegation back to the fourth division in 1974.

The side finished the 2009–10 campaign in third place in League Two, winning promotion to League One. Rochdale established themselves in League One in the 2010–11 season, finishing 9th. However, they were relegated back to League Two in 2011–12. Although the club have not won any competitions since joining the League, they do have the distinction of playing in the final of the League Cup in 1962, the only team from the lowest level of the Football League to have done so.
