Robert Sledge - Biography

Biography

Robert Sledge began playing bass guitar at the age of eleven. His brother was playing guitar at his house so he also learned how to play the guitar at the same time. Robert Sledge got his start in the music scene when he was discovered in his basement by Jon Royce of The Beam, a regionally known band. They were from Murfreesboro, NC, but played many shows to sold-out crowds in the 1980s and early 90's in Atlantic Beach and they were also well known in Greenville, NC and all along the East Coast. The Beam played shows in Savannah, Georgia as well, and played with Johnny WInter and opened for The Black Crowes. Sledge's bandmates in The Beam included Steven Dean Davis (Stomp, Pandemonium), Jon Royce(Zakk's Coffeehouse), and Brad Dilday. Before playing with Ben Folds Five he was bassist for the bands Toxic Popsicle and Lexx Luthor (with Godsmack's Sully Erna).

Famous quotes containing the word biography:

A great biography should, like the close of a great drama, leave behind it a feeling of serenity. We collect into a small bunch the flowers, the few flowers, which brought sweetness into a life, and present it as an offering to an accomplished destiny. It is the dying refrain of a completed song, the final verse of a finished poem.
    André Maurois (1885–1967)

There never was a good biography of a good novelist. There couldn’t be. He is too many people, if he’s any good.
    F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896–1940)

As we approached the log house,... the projecting ends of the logs lapping over each other irregularly several feet at the corners gave it a very rich and picturesque look, far removed from the meanness of weather-boards. It was a very spacious, low building, about eighty feet long, with many large apartments ... a style of architecture not described by Vitruvius, I suspect, though possibly hinted at in the biography of Orpheus.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
