Other Work

In spring of 2012, Stanford University selected him as John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship Semifinalist for his journalism innovation.

November 2009, he founded Black Talkers, a web site which covers the black talk media industry.

The same year, Redding also narrated "Stay Brady Stay," a documentary about the future of Louisiana.

In 2006, he founded IndependentThinkers.org, an organization dedicated to conducting research and rewarding its members with scholarships, internships, jobs, publishing, broadcasting and networking opportunities that advance critical nonpartisan, independent thought.

Redding is also an artist, who paints abstract "smear paintings." The Washington, D.C., Georgetowner highlighted only his art in a group show on Capitol Hill in 2006 writing: "It is always an event anytime Rob Redding's smear paintings are featured."

Famous quotes containing the word work:

We have not the motive to prepare ourselves for a “life-work” of teaching, of social work—we know that we would lay it down with hallelujah in the height of our success, to make a home for the right man. And all the time in the background of our consciousness rings the warning that perhaps the right man will never come. A great love is given to very few. Perhaps this make-shift time filler of a job is our life work after all.
    Ruth Benedict (1887–1948)

Ours is the old, old story of every uprising race or class or order. The work of elevation must be wrought by ourselves or not at all.
    Frances Power Cobbe (1822–1904)
