Famous quotes containing the word temper:

My father was a gentleman of many virtues,—but he had a strong spice of that in his temper which might, or might not, add to the number.—’Tis known by the name of perseverance in a good cause,—and of obstinacy in a bad one.
    Laurence Sterne (1713–1768)

Photography suits the temper of this age—of active bodies and minds. It is a perfect medium for one whose mind is teeming with ideas, imagery, for a prolific worker who would be slowed down by painting or sculpting, for one who sees quickly and acts decisively, accurately.
    Edward Weston (1886–1958)

Kindness is not without its rocks ahead. People are apt to put it down to an easy temper and seldom recognize it as the secret striving of a generous nature; whilst, on the other hand, the ill-natured get credit for all the evil they refrain from.
    HonorĂ© De Balzac (1799–1850)
