Road Ranger - Founding and Early History

Founding and Early History

The first Road Ranger was opened in 1984 in Rockford, Illinois by Northern Illinois University business graduate Daniel "Dan" Arnold. The first location was purchased with $5,000.00 of Dan's savings and a loan taken out by him and his wife, Linda Arnold.

Dan sold the company to Phillips Petroleum in 1990 to pursue other interests in real estate and banking, but eventually restarted the company in 1997. Since then Road Ranger has rapidly expanded and modernized, presently operating over 80 facilities in six mid-western states.

Road Ranger is presently owned by Daniel Arnold and co-member Sunil Puri, founder of First Rockford Group.

Daniel Arnold remains at Road Ranger acting as founder and CEO.

Famous quotes containing the words founding, early and/or history:

... there is no way of measuring the damage to a society when a whole texture of humanity is kept from realizing its own power, when the woman architect who might have reinvented our cities sits barely literate in a semilegal sweatshop on the Texas- Mexican border, when women who should be founding colleges must work their entire lives as domestics ...
    Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)

The Americans never use the word peasant, because they have no idea of the class which that term denotes; the ignorance of more remote ages, the simplicity of rural life, and the rusticity of the villager have not been preserved among them; and they are alike unacquainted with the virtues, the vices, the coarse habits, and the simple graces of an early stage of civilization.
    Alexis de Tocqueville (1805–1859)

... that there is no other way,
That the history of creation proceeds according to
    Stringent laws, and that things
Do get done in this way, but never the things
We set out to accomplish and wanted so desperately
    To see come into being.
    John Ashbery (b. 1927)
