Rivulet Mill Complex

The Rivulet Mill Complex is an historic group of mill buildings located at 60 Rivulet Street, in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. On October 7, 1983, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The Rivulet Mill was originally built by Chandler Taft. Mr Sayles purchased the mill in 1864 and after repairing it, began the manufacture of shoddy. The mill burned in 1872 totally destroying the original mill. Mr Sayles and Zadok Taft rebuilt the mill and enlarged it continuing in the business until 1878 when the name was changed to Sayles, Taft & Co. Mr Taft retired in 1882 and the firm name became the Richard Sayles Mill. The mill was sold out of the Sayles family in 1910. The historic Richard Sayles House is nearby the Mill Complex, also in North Uxbridge. Richard Sayles was a graduate of the Uxbridge Academy, and his family was also prominent in the area of Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
