Riverfront Park of Cape Girardeau Missouri

Cape Girardeau Missouri River Front Park

The Cape Girardeau, Missouri River Front Park is located in front of the levee wall that protects the town from high water of the Mississippi River. The park has a stepped concrete seating platform that will allow viewing of the river by visitors. Along with the visitor viewing platform, it has docking facilities for riverboats such as the Delta Queen that travels between St. Louis and New Orleans. Two levee gates that can be closed during high water are the entries to the park. Murals are painted on the wall, welcoming river visitors to the area.

Famous quotes containing the words park, cape and/or missouri:

Is a park any better than a coal mine? What’s a mountain got that a slag pile hasn’t? What would you rather have in your garden—an almond tree or an oil well?
    Jean Giraudoux (1882–1944)

A great proportion of the inhabitants of the Cape are always thus abroad about their teaming on some ocean highway or other, and the history of one of their ordinary trips would cast the Argonautic expedition into the shade.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

I was losing interest in politics, when the repeal of the Missouri Compromise aroused me again. What I have done since then is pretty well known.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)
