Influences
Carey cites as his main influences the many music styles of the Caribbean, including elements of Soca, Dancehall, R&B, and HipHop, sometimes blended with a native sound from the Bahamas called "Junkanoo" and "Rake n Scrape." He also has a great love of music from the 1970s and 1980s, as it was music he grew up on; his family would often play old records and practice for their band gigs (High Voltage, Sweet Exorcist, Snap Shot). Close friends and family members have also had a great influence in his life, including his wife Sheki, his father Pat Carey (guitarist), his little brother Sketch (producer and R&B recording artist), M. Deez (Dancehall & Reggae artist), Zoltan Johnson (producer for Stereotypez Music), Charlie Brown "Nigh" (producer), the Baha Men (Grammy Award-winning band), and just about all the Bahamian musicians and recording artists, known and unknown.

“Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each. Let them be your only diet drink and botanical medicines.”

“Without looking, then, to those extraordinary social influences which are now acting in precisely this direction, but only at what is inevitably doing around us, I think we must regard the land as a commanding and increasing power on the citizen, the sanative and Americanizing influence, which promises to disclose new virtues for ages to come.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
