Richmond Raiders

The Richmond Raiders are a professional indoor football team that began play in the American Indoor Football Association in the 2010 season. The Raiders moved to the Southern Indoor Football League when the Eastern division of the AIFA merged with the SIFL in the winter of 2010, beginning SIFL play in the 2011 season. Now a member of the Professional Indoor Football League, the Raiders are based in Richmond, Virginia, with home games to be played at the Richmond Coliseum.

The Raiders are Richmond's third attempt at a professional indoor football team, with their past attempts being the af2's Richmond Speed (2000-2003) and the Richmond Bandits (2005-2006). The Raiders are not to be confused with the Richmond Revolution which is an inactive member of the Indoor Football League.

Famous quotes containing the words richmond and/or raiders:

    “Trams and dusty trees.
Highbury bore me. Richmond and Kew
Undid me. By Richmond I raised my knees
Supine on the floor of a narrow canoe.”
    —T.S. (Thomas Stearns)

This is our fate: eight hundred years’ disaster,
crazily tangled like the Book of Kells:
the dream’s distortion and the land’s division,
the midnight raiders and the prison cells.
    John Hewitt (b. 1907)
