Richie Hayward - Death

Death

In August 2009, Hayward announced that he had recently been diagnosed with liver cancer and would not be at work indefinitely. A benefit concert was organized, and a website created where fans unable to attend could donate towards his treatment costs. Hayward, who lived in Canada, did not have health insurance. While awaiting a liver transplant, Hayward died from complications of lung disease at a hospital in Victoria, British Columbia on August 12, 2010. Little Feat drum technician Gabe Ford has been taking his place on drums since August 2009.

The day after his death Little Feat played a gig at Fairport's Cropredy Convention festival in Cropredy in the U.K and spoke of their sadness onstage finding themselves performing a spectacular set in front of 20,000 festival goers.

Famous quotes containing the word death:

if thou slip thy troth and do not come at all.
As minutes in the clock do strike so call for death I shall:
To please both thy false heart, and rid myself from woe,
That rather had to die in troth than live forsaken so.
—Unknown. The Lady Prayeth the Return of Her Lover Abiding on the Seas (l. 19–22)

We all labour against our own cure, for death is the cure of all diseases.
    Thomas Browne (1605–1682)

No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the Continent, a part of the main.... Any man’s death diminishes me because I am involved in Mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.
    John Donne (c. 1572–1631)
