Richard F. Irvine Riverboat - History

History

The Richard F Irvine riverboat was named after the Disney executive Richard Irvine. It was the 2nd Riverboat to enter into service on the Rivers of America at the Magic Kingdom. Its counterpart, the Admiral Joe Fowler Riverboat, served from October 2, 1971 through 1980. The Richard F Irvine was completely refurbished and returned to service in 1996 as the Liberty Belle Riverboat. The Liberty Belle underwent an extensive rehab lasting from September 2005 to September 2006 and is now back plying the waterways of the Magic Kingdom. Coincidentally, Irvine is the late father-in-law to Walt Disney Imagineer / Disneyland Art Director, Kim Irvine, whose mother is the late Leota Toombs.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

One classic American landscape haunts all of American literature. It is a picture of Eden, perceived at the instant of history when corruption has just begun to set in. The serpent has shown his scaly head in the undergrowth. The apple gleams on the tree. The old drama of the Fall is ready to start all over again.
    Jonathan Raban (b. 1942)

So in accepting the leading of the sentiments, it is not what we believe concerning the immortality of the soul, or the like, but the universal impulse to believe, that is the material circumstance, and is the principal fact in this history of the globe.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Let us not underrate the value of a fact; it will one day flower in a truth. It is astonishing how few facts of importance are added in a century to the natural history of any animal. The natural history of man himself is still being gradually written.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
