Revenge of the Cybermen was mentioned many years later in the BBC comedy series The League of Gentlemen, in a sketch performed by fan (and future Doctor Who writer and actor) Mark Gatiss called "Stumphole Cavern". The sketch involved a false story that Tom Baker had sprained his ankle during the making of this serial, which fans have since confused with Baker actually breaking his collar bone earlier that season in The Sontaran Experiment.
