Inca Religion and Socialism

Inca religion is one of the main counter arguments in the debate regarding the notion that the Inca state was an early 'Socialist Empire' (Baudin, 1928). Famous quotes containing the words religion and/or socialism:

A religion so cheerless, a philosophy so sorrowful, could never have succeeded with the masses of mankind if presented only as a system of metaphysics. Buddhism owed its success to its catholic spirit and its beautiful morality.
    W. Winwood Reade (1838–1875)

As with the Christian religion, the worst advertisement for Socialism is its adherents.
    George Orwell (1903–1950)
