Famous quotes containing the words attitude, jews and/or judaism:

The “sayings” of a community, its proverbs, are its characteristic comment upon life; they imply its history, suggest its attitude toward the world and its way of accepting life. Such an idiom makes the finest language any writer can have; and he can never get it with a notebook. He himself must be able to think and feel in that speech—it is a gift from heart to heart.
    Willa Cather (1873–1947)

The Jews always complained, kvetching about false gods, and erected the
biggest false God, Jehovah, in middle of western civilization.
    Allen Ginsberg (b. 1926)

Christianity is the religion of melancholy and hypochondria. Islam, on the other hand, promotes apathy, and Judaism instills its adherents with a certain choleric vehemence, the heathen Greeks may well be called happy optimists.
    Franz Grillparzer (1791–1872)
