Regents School of Austin - Regents History

Regents History

Regents was founded in 1992 by parents who wanted to teach their children to be lifelong learners. These parents spent long hours visiting other schools, researching existing curricula. They compiled and in many cases wrote the curriculum Regents used for most of its formative years. Some of those founding parents also served as teachers, administrators, janitors, athletic coaches, board members, carpool drivers and countless other roles that shaped Regents into the school it is today.

Regents originally met at Park Hills Baptist Church before moving to Tarrytown Baptist Church. Regents spent many years meeting in portable buildings in the parking lot at Tarrytown Baptist before moving to a permanent campus in 1998.

Regents had its first graduating class in the year 2000 consisting of two students.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

Bias, point of view, fury—are they ... so dangerous and must they be ironed out of history, the hills flattened and the contours leveled? The professors talk ... about passion and point of view in history as a Calvinist talks about sin in the bedroom.
    Catherine Drinker Bowen (1897–1973)
