A variety of construction methods and materials are used by crafters, such as plastic sleeves, metal buttons, laminating and printing on flexible magnetic substrates. Millions of such magnetic wares may be found on the internet.
In 1996 Jeffery Gauss a.k.a as the MagnetDude began to create his art on the vinyl magnetic surface itself. Since he began he has created over 40,000 unique pieces of magnetic art. In Minneapolis home of Magnetic Poetry, Gauss began to create and sell his pieces at Calhoun Square in Uptown.
