Redmarshall - Public House

Public House

The Ship is approximately 260 years old, located in Redmarshall. It is a five minute drive from Stockton On Tees and approximately 15 minutes from Darlington. The pub is called the ship as it was originally built from the timbers of ships that floundered off the River Tees. The pub has recently changed hands and extensive modifications have been carried out by Matthew Charnley the new owner and Chef. The Ship offers an extensive range of fine beers, lagers, cider, wines and spirits.

Famous quotes containing the words public and/or house:

They had their fortunes to make, everything to gain and nothing to lose. They were schooled in and anxious for debates; forcible in argument; reckless and brilliant. For them it was but a short and natural step from swaying juries in courtroom battles over the ownership of land to swaying constituents in contests for office. For the lawyer, oratory was the escalator that could lift a political candidate to higher ground.
—Federal Writers’ Project Of The Wor, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

Behold now this vast city; a city of refuge, the mansion house of liberty, encompassed and surrounded with his protection; the shop of war hath not there more anvils and hammers waking, to fashion out the plates and instruments of armed justice in defence of beleaguered truth, than there be pens and hands there, sitting by their studious lamps, musing, searching, revolving new notions.
    John Milton (1608–1674)
