Red Meat - Publication

Publication

The strip was briefly picked up by The Arizona Daily Wildcat, the student run newspaper of the University of Arizona, in 1989. It was then picked up by the Tucson Weekly.

Cannon is also creator of the Comedy Central animated webshow, Shadow Rock (based on the Red Meat strip). The 10 episodes are now available on Atom.com.

In 2009, Max Cannon urged his readers to contact the editors of their local alternative weekly papers in an effort to save the comics printed within.

Three collections of the strips have been released:

  • Red Meat (1997) ISBN 0-312-18302-X
  • More Red Meat (1998) ISBN 0-312-19514-1
  • Red Meat Gold (2005) ISBN 0-312-33014-6

Famous quotes containing the word publication:

I would rather have as my patron a host of anonymous citizens digging into their own pockets for the price of a book or a magazine than a small body of enlightened and responsible men administering public funds. I would rather chance my personal vision of truth striking home here and there in the chaos of publication that exists than attempt to filter it through a few sets of official, honorably public-spirited scruples.
    John Updike (b. 1932)

An action is the perfection and publication of thought. A right action seems to fill the eye, and to be related to all nature.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Of all human events, perhaps, the publication of a first volume of verses is the most insignificant; but though a matter of no moment to the world, it is still of some concern to the author.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)
