Red Diamond Inc. is a coffee, tea, and food service company headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. Red Diamond, founded in 1906, is one of the three oldest coffee and teas companies in the United States and has continuously been operated by members of the same family.
Red Diamond is building a new campus in Moody, Alabama. They expect to occupy the new buildings in January, 2009. In June, 2007, the St. Clair County Commission approved a $1.5 million loan to prepare the site for construction. The move to St. Clair came after 100 years in Birmingham. Company officials were angered that Jefferson County, Alabama officials would not cooperate with plans to expand facilities. The expansion plans would increase employment from 160 to 200 people according to company officials.
Red Diamond Tea is currently distributed by Prairie Farms (Prairie Farms, Hiland Dairy, and Roberts Dairy).
Famous quotes containing the words red and/or diamond:
“I spent my life mixin with your breed, and I dont like it. Get me. You can hide behind a lot of red tape, crooked lawyers and politicians with the gimmes, writs of habeas corpus, witnesses that dont remember overnight, but well get through to you, just like we got all the rest.”
—Ben Hecht (18931964)
“A poet who makes use of a worse word instead of a better, because the former fits the rhyme or the measure, though it weakens the sense, is like a jeweller, who cuts a diamond into a brilliant, and diminishes the weight to make it shine more.”
—Horace Walpole (17171797)
