Famous quotes containing the word behavior:
“Excessive attention, even if its negative, is such a powerful reward to a child that it actually reinforces the undesirable behavior. You need to learn restraint, to respond to far fewer situations, to ask yourself questions like, Is this really important? Could I let this behavior go? What would happen if I just wait? Could I lose by doing nothing?”
—Stanley Turecki (20th century)
“Reading about ethics is about as likely to improve ones behavior as reading about sports is to make one into an athlete.”
—Mason Cooley (b. 1927)
“To a first approximation, the intentional strategy consists of treating the object whose behavior you want to predict as a rational agent with beliefs and desires and other mental states exhibiting what Brentano and others call intentionality.”
—Daniel Clement Dennett (b. 1942)
