This high-budget production opened to goOd reviews and good openings in Tamil Nadu. This film also brought huge fan following and also market for NAGARJUNA in tamil cinema after MEGASTAR CIRANJEEVI. It was also later dubbed into Telugu as Rakshakudu to capitulate on Nagarjuna's fan base in Andhra Pradesh, but became a heavy financial failure for the distributor J. Ramachandra Rao. Kunjumon had also planned to dub the film into Hindi as Pyar Ka Rakshak, but found no takers due to the disappointing outcome of previous versions
