Rapture (song)

Rapture (song)

"Rapture" is a song by the American pop band, Blondie, from their November 1980 studio album entitled Autoamerican.

In January 1981, "Rapture" was released as the second and final single from Autoamerican, the first being "The Tide Is High". The song is a combination of sung verses and choruses with an extended spoken-word rap section. For this reason, "Rapture" is considered to be the first rap/hip-hop song to reach #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart where it stayed for two weeks. The song peaked at #4 in in Australia and #5 in the United Kingdom.

Famous quotes containing the word rapture:

    Now night perfumes lie upon the air,
    As rests the blossom on the loaded bough;
    And each deep-drawn breath is redolent
    Of all the folded flowers’ mingled scent
    That rises in confused rapture now.
    Philip Larkin (1922–1986)
