Notable Graves
The cemetery contains the graves of 198 soldiers. Amongst these are the graves of six Australian troops killed simultaneously by the same shell. These graves are symbolically grouped together.
Rose Coombs, who did much to popularise Ieper and the Salient for tourists and pilgrims through her book "Before Endeavours Fade" (ISBN 0-900913-85-1), had her ashes scattered in this cemetery in 1991.

Famous quotes containing the words notable and/or graves:
“In one notable instance, where the United States Army and a hundred years of persuasion failed, a highway has succeeded. The Seminole Indians surrendered to the Tamiami Trail. From the Everglades the remnants of this race emerged, soon after the trail was built, to set up their palm-thatched villages along the road and to hoist tribal flags as a lure to passing motorists.”
—For the State of Florida, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
“And they that rule in England
In stately conclave met,
Alas, alas, for England
They have no graves as yet.”
—Gilbert Keith Chesterton (18741936)
