Administration
Ramban district consists of two tehsils (Ramban and Banihal) and four community development blocks (Ramban, Banihal, Gool and Ramsoo). Each block consists of a number of panchayats. The district consisted of 116 census villages and 127 revenue villages in 2001. Total panchayat Halqas in the district are 124.
Ramban town is the district headquarters. The town is located along Chenab river on National Highway-1A (now 44) at about 150 km from Jammu and about 150 km from Srinagar making it almost a central point on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
