Rake Receiver - Mathematical Definition

Mathematical Definition

A RAKE receiver utilizes multiple correlators to separately detect M strongest multipath components. Each correlator may be quantized using 1, 2, 3 or 4 bits.

The outputs of each correlator are weighted to provide better estimate of the transmitted signal than is provided by a single component. Demodulation and bit decisions are then based on the weighted outputs of the M correlators.

Famous quotes containing the words mathematical and/or definition:

An accurate charting of the American woman’s progress through history might look more like a corkscrew tilted slightly to one side, its loops inching closer to the line of freedom with the passage of time—but like a mathematical curve approaching infinity, never touching its goal. . . . Each time, the spiral turns her back just short of the finish line.
    Susan Faludi (20th century)

Perhaps the best definition of progress would be the continuing efforts of men and women to narrow the gap between the convenience of the powers that be and the unwritten charter.
    Nadine Gordimer (b. 1923)
