Rainbow Room

The Rainbow Room was an upscale Northern Italian restaurant and nightclub on the 65th floor of the GE Building (which one entered on 49th Street, between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue) in Rockefeller Center, Midtown Manhattan, New York City. Opened in 1934, it was the first restaurant to be located in a high-rise setting. Suffering from a decline in business following the 2008 economic reversal, the restaurant closed in 2009. In 2012, it was declared a New York City landmark by the New York Landmarks Commission and new investors are currently being sought.
