Proposed Railways

The region has three proposed railways which have been planned for although construction has not yet started. The Cross River Rail project is a new 18 km railway under the Brisbane River and the Brisbane central business district, that involves four new underground inner city stations and an increase in maximum capacity in Brisbane. The Kippa-Ring railway line is a proposed branch line between Petrie to Kippa-Ring. The Maroochydore railway line branching at Beerwah and passing through Caloundra.
