Academic Performance
The proportion of pupils who achieved five or more grades A* to C in the 2003 GCSE examinations was well above the national average, though the proportion of students achieving A level success at grades A to C in 2 or more subjects was, however, below the national average. In summer 2007, over 95% of the school's students achieved at least 5 A*-C GCSE grades, the highest yet.
However, in the last Estyn inspection in April 2004, the standards reached in Religious Education at Key Stage 4 were considered unsatisfactory, but the remaining assessments ranged between satisfactory and very good, with notable performances in Art, Music, and Physical Education. In 2005, the school had a major reshuffle of its Religious Education department, hiring new teachers, and a new head for the department.

Famous quotes containing the words academic and/or performance:
“If twins are believed to be less intelligent as a class than single-born children, it is not surprising that many times they are also seen as ripe for social and academic problems in school. No one knows the extent to which these kind of attitudes affect the behavior of multiples in school, and virtually nothing is known from a research point of view about social behavior of twins over the age of six or seven, because this hasnt been studied either.”
—Pamela Patrick Novotny (20th century)
“So long as the source of our identity is externalvested in how others judge our performance at work, or how others judge our childrens performance, or how much money we makewe will find ourselves hopelessly flawed, forever short of the ideal.”
—Melinda M. Marshall (20th century)
