Table Tennis
A table tennis racket is used by players in the game table tennis. The racket is made from laminated wood covered with rubber on one or two sides depending on the grip of the player. This is called either a paddle, racket, or a bat, with usage differing by region. In the USA the term "paddle" is common, in Europe the term is "bat", and the official ITTF term is "racket."

Famous quotes containing the words table and/or tennis:
“Will you greet your doom
As final; set him loaves and wine; knowing
The game is finished when he plays his ace,
And overturn the table and go into the next room?”
—Philip Larkin (19221986)
“I know some of my self-worth comes from tennis, and its hard to think of doing something else where you know youll never be the best. Tennis players are rare creatures: where else in the world can you know that youre the best? The definitiveness of it is the beauty of it, but its not all there is to life and Im ready to explore the alternatives.”
—Martina Navratilova (b. 1956)
