Pulse Tube Refrigerator

The pulse tube refrigerator (PTR) or pulse tube cryocooler is a developing technology that emerged largely in the early 1980s with a series of other innovations in the broader field of thermoacoustics. In contrast with other cryocoolers (e.g. Stirling cryocooler and Gifford-McMahon cooler), this cryocooler can be made without moving parts in the low temperature part of the device, making the cooler suitable for a wide variety of applications.

Famous quotes containing the words pulse, tube and/or refrigerator:

My pulse as yours doth temperately keep time,
And makes as healthful music. It is not madness
    That I have uttered.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

Even crushed against his brother in the Tube the average Englishman pretends desperately that he is alone.
    Germaine Greer (b. 1939)

I hate to do what everybody else is doing. Why, only last week, on Fifth Avenue and some cross streets, I noticed that every feminine citizen of these United States wore an artificial posy on her coat or gown. I came home and ripped off every one of the really lovely refrigerator blossoms that were sewn on my own bodices.
    Carolyn Wells (1862–1942)
