Pulgaon - Demographics

Demographics

Pulgaon, with in 1961 a population of 28,063, is a fast growing, Tahsil level municipal town in Wardha district on bank of the Wardha river situated about 19 miles (31 km) south of Wardha.

As of 1991, Pulgaon population was 36,600 and still growing higher, as like in the rest of India. The city limits have already been crossed and majority of the Pulgaon population, which even write Pulgaon as a city & pin 442302, are legally in the limits of either Nachangaon or Gunjkheda and so there is a need of restructuring of the city limits, which might make it a B-grade or even rather A-grade Municipal corporation with the total possible population of >70000. Currently, as of 2005, it is B-grade, with the current boundary limits of 5.29 square miles (13.7 km2).

Though, Pulgaon falls under class-III towns in Maharashtra, the population of Pulgaon is largely declined in the past few years. This is the only case of population decline in the past decade, by 6.06%, in the Wardha District and in Vidarbha too. This is mostly because of the non-interests of the local people in politics, no Social awareness in people about their own rights, unavailability of industries and proper Education facilities in the area and also partly because of the CAD camp in the surrounding area. This tend to result in the migration of the local people for their various needs. Also, Pulgaon, a Tehsil level town, and almost twice in the size and population as compared to its tehsil Deoli, it is still ignored and always left unattended by the local and state authorities.
