Famous quotes containing the words pudding, mill, lane and/or station:
“Hail, hail, plump paunch, O the founder of taste
For fresh meats, or powdered, or pickle, or paste;
Devourer of broiled, baked, roasted or sod,
And emptier of cups, be they even or odd;
All which have now made thee so wide i the waist
As scarce with no pudding thou art to be laced;
But eating and drinking until thou dost nod,
Thou breakst all thy girdles, and breakst forth a god.”
—Ben Jonson (15721637)
“The miller believes that all the wheat grows so that his mill keeps running.”
—Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe (17491832)
“The question is whether personal freedom is worth the terrible effort, the never-lifted burden and risks of self-reliance.”
—Rose Wilder Lane (18861968)
“It was evident that the same foolish respect was not here claimed for mere wealth and station that is in many parts of New England; yet some of them were the first people, as they are called, of the various towns through which we passed.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
