Self-service Provisioning For Cloud Computing Services

On-demand self-service is described by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as an essential characteristic of Cloud computing. The self-service nature of cloud computing lets end users obtain and remove cloud services―including applications, the infrastructure supporting the applications, and configuration― themselves without requiring the assistance of an IT staff member. Cloud users can obtain cloud services through a cloud service catalog or a self-service portal. Because business users can obtain and configure cloud services themselves, this means IT staff can be more productive and gives them more time to manage cloud infrastructures.

Famous quotes containing the words cloud and/or services:

Hast ‘ou fashioned so airy a mood
To draw up leaf from the root?
Hast ‘ou found a cloud so light
As seemed neither mist nor shade?
    Ezra Pound (1885–1972)

    It seems I impregnated Marge
So I do rather feel, by and large,
    Some cash should be tendered
    For services rendered,
But I can’t quite decide what to charge.
