Providence Initiative For Psychogeographic Studies

Providence Initiative for Psychogeographic Studies or as it sometimes stands for, People Interested in Participatory Societies, is a small collective of artists in Providence, Rhode Island which promotes artistic and social investigations in psychogeography. PIPS grew out of a small group looking to investigate the urban environment in detail.

Famous quotes containing the words providence, initiative and/or studies:

A shocking crime was committed on the unscrupulous initiative of few individuals, with the blessing of more, and amid the passive acquiescence of all.
    Tacitus (c. 55–120)

...Women’s Studies can amount simply to compensatory history; too often they fail to challenge the intellectual and political structures that must be challenged if women as a group are ever to come into collective, nonexclusionary freedom.
    Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)
