Problem Management - Problem Categorization

Problem Categorization

Problems must be categorized (severity/priority) in the same way as incidents in order to trace a problem. Prioritize a problem implies to keep into account the impact of the incidents and the frequency of the occurrences. Problem priorization should take into account the severity of the problems. From an infrastructure point of view we can have:

  • Can the system be recovered, or does it need to be replaced?
  • How much will it cost?
  • How many people will be involved to fix the problem?
  • How long will it take to fix the problem?
  • How many additional resources will be involved?

Famous quotes containing the word problem:

It is part of the educator’s responsibility to see equally to two things: First, that the problem grows out of the conditions of the experience being had in the present, and that it is within the range of the capacity of students; and, secondly, that it is such that it arouses in the learner an active quest for information and for production of new ideas. The new facts and new ideas thus obtained become the ground for further experiences in which new problems are presented.
    John Dewey (1859–1952)
