Princess Maria Immacolata of Bourbon-Two Sicilies - Death

Death

It was decided to take Maria Immacolata to the town of Cauterets where there were sulphur baths. On the way they stopped at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes where she was immersed in the water twice. Her physicians said that her case was hopeless, and at the end of July it was decided to move her to Pau. She died there on 23 February.

Maria Immacolata's remains were buried in the chapel at Villa Borbone, near Viareggio.

Famous quotes containing the word death:

The sole work and deed of universal freedom is therefore death, a death too which has no inner significance or filling, for what is negated is the empty point of the absolutely free self. It is thus the coldest and meanest of all deaths, with no more significance than cutting off a head of cabbage or swallowing a mouthful of water.
    Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831)

Death is not natural for a state as it is for a human being, for whom death is not only necessary, but frequently even desirable.
    Marcus Tullius Cicero (106–43 B.C.)

When Gabriel’s trumpet ends all life’s delay,
Will crash the beams of firmamental woe:
Not nature will sustain the even crime
Of death, though death sustains all nature, so.
    Allen Tate (1899–1979)
