Princess Margarita of Romania - Private Life

Private Life

On 21 September 1996 in Lausanne Margareta married Radu Duda, created first Radu, Prince of Hohenzollern-Veringen in 1 January 1999, and now called HRH Radu, Prince of Romania in 30 December 2007, future Prince Consort of Romania, who either in her company or most often alone, represents the Royal Family publicly on various occasions. The couple met in 1994 through the work of the Princess Margarita Foundation: Radu Duda was working as an art therapist in orphanages and met when the Princess visited the program. They live in the Elisabeta Palace in Bucharest.

In her youth at the University of Edinburgh, Margareta was involved in a romantic relationship with Gordon Brown, who was later to become Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (2007–2010). Margareta said about it: "It was a very solid and romantic story. I never stopped loving him but one day it didn't seem right any more, it was politics, politics, politics, and I needed nurturing."

Famous quotes related to private life:

The others ‘acted’ a role; I was the role. She who was Mary Garden died that it might live. That was my genius ... and my sacrifice. It drained off so much of me that by comparison my private life was empty. I could not give myself completely twice.
    Mary Garden (1874–1967)

There is no private life which has not been determined by a wider public life.
George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)

In private life he was good-natured, chearful, social; inelegant in his manners, loose in his morals. He had a coarse, strong wit, which he was too free of for a man in his station, as it is always inconsistent with dignity. He was very able as a minister, but without a certain elevation of mind necessary for great good, or great mischief.
Philip Dormer Stanhope, 4th Earl Chesterfield (1694–1773)
