Branches of The Prize

The Prize is an international award bestowed in five branches. One million Saudi Riyals (about $266,000) is allocated for the Creativity Branch, while half a million Saudi Riyals (about $133,000) is allocated for each of the other four Specialized Branches. The Prize is accompanied by a gold medallion, a trophy and a certificate.

The current branches of the prize are as follows:

  • Creativity Prize
  • Specialized Branch Prizes:
    • Surface water
    • Ground water
    • Alternative (non-traditional) water resources
    • Water resources management and protection

During the first two rounds of the Prize (2002-2004) and (2004-2006) there were five specialized branch prizes, since "Water Resources Management" and "Water Resources Protection" were awarded separately. These two branch of the Prize were combined after the Second Award and the "Water Resources Management and Protection" Prize was awarded for the first time with the Third Award (2006-2008). The Creativity Prize was inaugurated for the Third Award (2006-2008).

Famous quotes containing the words branches of the, branches of, branches and/or prize:

In the woods in a winter afternoon one will see as readily the origin of the stained glass window, with which Gothic cathedrals are adorned, in the colors of the western sky seen through the bare and crossing branches of the forest.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

“I couldn’t afford to learn it,” said the Mock Turtle with a sigh. “I only took the regular course.”
    “What was that?” inquired Alice.
“Reeling and Writhing, of course, to begin with,” the Mock Turtle replied; “and then the different branches of Arithmetic—Ambition, Distraction, Uglification, and Derision.”
“I never heard of ‘Uglification,’” Alice ventured to say.
Lewis Carroll [Charles Lutwidge Dodgson] (1832–1898)

A good word is as a good tree—
    its roots are firm,
    and its branches are in heaven;
it gives its produce every season
by the leave of its Lord.
    Qur’An. Abraham 14:29-30, ed. Arthur J. Arberry (1955)

What we have we prize not to the worth
Whiles we enjoy it, but being lacked and lost,
Why, then we rack the value, then we find
The virtue that possession would not show us
    Whiles it was ours.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
