Primary Times is a free family magazine which is distributed to schools across Ireland and the UK. The magazine aims to inform families and children about current educational issues, forthcoming events, courses and attractions to give teachers, pupils and parents the opportunity to participate in the magazine by adding to its contents and or joining in the competitions.
Now in its 18th year, Primary Times publishes 55 separate magazines across the UK and Ireland with a combined distribution of 2.3 million copies per issue.
It is published once every term before each major school holiday plus a 'back to school' issue in the autumn, and contains competitions, games and listings of events in your local area.
Critics of the magazine claim that it is exploiting schools to distribute its commercial advertisements to children and parents. However the magazines do not carry any advertising considered to be offensive to young families or harmful to the best interests of young children. The magazine does not use a commercial distributor but instead uses schools and teachers to distribute the magazines.
Famous quotes containing the words primary and/or times:
“The primary function of myth is to validate an existing social order. Myth enshrines conservative social values, raising tradition on a pedestal. It expresses and confirms, rather than explains or questions, the sources of cultural attitudes and values.... Because myth anchors the present in the past it is a sociological charter for a future society which is an exact replica of the present one.”
—Ann Oakley (b. 1944)
“Tell me how many beads there are
In a silver chain
Of evening rain,
Unravelled from the tumbling main,
And threading the eye of a yellow star:
So many times do I love again.”
—Thomas Lovell Beddoes (18031849)
