Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
The Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints broke with the Community of Christ over the issue of lineal succession, when, in 1995, W. Grant McMurray was named the successor to the President Wallace B. Smith. Members of the Remnant Church continue to believe in the lineal succession. As such, the prophet of the Remnant Church, President Frederick Niels Larsen, is a direct descendant (maternal 2nd great-grandson) of Joseph Smith, Jr.
