Famous quotes containing the words presbyterian, church, eastern and/or australia:
“What I often forget about students, especially undergraduates, is that surface appearances are misleading. Most of them are at base as conventional as Presbyterian deacons.”
—Muriel Beadle (b. 1915)
“Combativeness was, I suppose, the dominant trait in my grandmothers nature. An aggressive churchgoer, she was quite without Christian feeling; the mercy of the Lord Jesus had never entered her heart. —Mary McCarthy (19121989)
“The grey-eyed morn smiles on the frowning night,
Checkering the eastern clouds with streaks of light.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)

—Alex Atkinson, British humor writer. repr. In Present Laughter, ed. Alan Coren (1982)
