POSIX Threads - Example

Example

An example illustrating the use of Pthreads in C:

#include #include #include #include #define NUM_THREADS 5 void *TaskCode(void *argument) { int tid; tid = *((int *) argument); printf("Hello World! It's me, thread %d!\n", tid); /* optionally: insert more useful stuff here */ return NULL; } int main(void) { pthread_t threads; int thread_args; int rc, i; /* create all threads */ for (i=0; iThis program creates five threads, each executing the function TaskCode that prints the unique number of this thread to standard output. If a programmer wanted the threads to communicate with each other, this would require defining a variable outside of the scope of any of the functions, making it a global variable.

Famous quotes containing the word example:

Our intellect is not the most subtle, the most powerful, the most appropriate, instrument for revealing the truth. It is life that, little by little, example by example, permits us to see that what is most important to our heart, or to our mind, is learned not by reasoning but through other agencies. Then it is that the intellect, observing their superiority, abdicates its control to them upon reasoned grounds and agrees to become their collaborator and lackey.
    Marcel Proust (1871–1922)
