Pooley Sword is a sword manufacture company headquartered in Shoreham-by-Sea, England that make ceremonial swords for the British Armed Forces. Robert Pooley founded the company when Wilkinson Sword announced they would close their sword factory in Acton in August 2005. Pooley purchased the machinery from the factory and also the patterns and drawings of the swords made there. By outsourcing the sword manufacture to India, and using the equipment bought from Wilkinson Sword, he ensured that his company remained profitable and continue to hold the Ministry of Defence contract for sword manufacture. Whilst the blades are forged in India, they are finished, polished and etched in England.
